Nghe An Provincial People's Committee regular meeting donated 35 million VND for Tet for the poor

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 22, at the online conference of the fourth quarter of 2016, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong launched a campaign for departments, branches and localities to respond and support the poor to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2017.

The meeting attendees participated in supporting the poor.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee announced Directive No. 11 dated December 21 of the Secretariat on organizing the 2017 New Year in a practical, economical, healthy manner, in accordance with the civilized lifestyle, cultural traditions of the nation, with the customs, traditions, and habits of each locality.

This year, localities will not organize fireworks displays; spend time and money to take care of Tet for the poor, disadvantaged, and policy families; share and help the people of the Central region affected by natural disasters and floods.

This morning, the members of the Provincial People's Committee attended the 4th Quarter 2016 Provincial People's Committee meeting to donate to support the poor in the province. The total amount collected was nearly 35 million VND.

With the support of the meeting attendees, nearly 35 million VND was donated to "Tet for the poor".

Previously, on December 20, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh sent a letter calling for support, companionship, and assistance from agencies, units, organizations, individuals, the business community, and philanthropists to help the poor enjoy the Spring Festival, celebrate Tet, and overcome difficulties in life.

Nghe An province currently has nearly 75,000 poor households and 80,000 near-poor households in need of the community's attention, support and sharing to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2017./.
