Investigating the scene, extracting security camera images and applying other professional measures, the police narrowed down the suspect to Nguyen Minh Ti as mentioned above.
The detectives divided into many groups to arrest Ti at his temporary residence in Vinh Loc B commune, Binh Chanh district and at his hometown in Tien Giang, but the subject was not present at these places.
PC02 detectives spread out to many neighboring provinces and cities to coordinate with local police to follow the trail.
On the afternoon of December 7, scouts discovered Ti hiding in a hotel in Thanh Hoa town, Thanh Hoa district, Long An province, so they ambushed and captured him.

Initially, Ti confessed that on the afternoon of December 6, he went to a dimly lit coffee shop to “have fun”. When he discovered that Ms. O. was wearing many gold bracelets and jewelry, Ti had the intention of robbing her.
Ti pulled out a knife to control Ms. O. to rob her of her gold. Because Ms. O. resisted, Ti swung the knife and stabbed her once in the side; covered her mouth with a towel to prevent her from screaming until Ms. O. lay motionless on the spot.
Ti took all of Ms. O's jewelry and escaped. Ti sold the stolen gold for nearly 8 million VND, which he used to buy game cards and rent a hotel until he was arrested.
