The mysterious notebook of officials accompanying the North Korean leader
Officials accompanying North Korean leader Kim Jong-un always carry a small notebook to record Kim's direct instructions.
According to James Grayson, a North Korea expert at the University of Sheffield, note-taking is a tradition that dates back to the time of Kim Jong-un's grandfather, President Kim Il-sung.

"It's on-the-spot instruction, a style that dates back to the late President Kim Il-sung in the 1950s and has been passed down through the late President Kim Jong-il and now Kim Jong-un," said Mr. Grayson.
This expert also believes that these films, once published on television or in the press, will portray the image of a powerful, wise leader who cares about the lives of all classes of people.
At the same time, senior North Korean officials take these opportunities to demonstrate that they are absorbing and taking note of Kim's every word.
Meanwhile, Professor Steve Tsang, head of the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Nottingham, said that the above notes will be made public by the propaganda agency to the people, so officials will have to be very careful with what they write.
“They don’t want to record anything that is politically incorrect, or something that might be harmful to them,” said Mr. Tsang./.
