Former football star Cong Minh returns

Coach Miura's assistant returned to work in V-League after three years of leaving Dong Thap by accepting Ca Mau's offer.

“In general, both sides have agreed on many terms to proceed to sign the contract. However, the details need more time to complete so they cannot be announced soon. Ca Mau is a rookie in the professional league but they are showing determination on the long road. If I return here, my determination is to develop further with the team. After the survey trip of VFF and VPF, the club and I will finalize the contract,” the former player born in 1970 shared.

Coach Cong Minh currently works in the national team department of VFF. The contract between him and VFF was signed on November 18. His job is to collect information about players to select and review the strength of the head coaches of the national teams at all levels. During the training camp to prepare for the U23 Asian qualifiers in January 2016, the coach from Lai Vung - Dong Thap was the number one assistant to Coach Miura.

During the absence of coach Cong Minh, the preparation work of Ca Mau team will be undertaken by assistants. The 2016 First Division season will take place in April 2016. Coach Cong Minh is the most famous defender of the golden generation of Vietnamese football in the late 90s of the last century and early 2000s. At the national team level, he won the silver medal at the 1995 and 1999 SEA Games, the bronze medal at the 1997 SEA Games, the silver medal at the 1998 Tiger Cup, and the bronze medal at the 1996 Tiger Cup. At the club level, he won two national championships in 1989 and 1996 for Dong Thap. In terms of individual honors, the legendary defender won the Golden Ball in 1999, the Silver Ball in 1996, and the Bronze Ball in 1997 and 1998.

Retiring from the football field in 2002, he started his coaching career when he started leading Dong Thap. After that, he worked as an assistant for many famous coaches in the Vietnam national team such as Riedl, Calisto and recently as an assistant for coach Miura. In the 2012-2013 season, he returned to Dong Thap after leaving Dong Tam. However, he could not successfully "rescue" his hometown team from relegation to the First Division.

Coach Cong Minh and his wife have two sons, the first is studying in the US majoring in aeronautical engineering, the other son is studying high school at the district's specialized school.
