Former US intelligence officer predicts conflict will end with Ukraine's political crisis
(Baonghean.vn) - Former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter said in an interview with US analyst Cyrus Janssen that the fighting in Ukraine will not end until a political crisis occurs in the country.

According to former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter, the Ukrainian army is now completely destroyed, and Russia is achieving a strategic military victory. Meanwhile, Russia's interest is to achieve the political collapse of Mr. Zelensky, after which the conflict in Ukraine can truly end.
Expert Scott Ritter explains: The Russia-Ukraine conflict will not end soon, until a political solution is reached. First, Ukraine will face military defeat, then political collapse. And Russia will act accordingly.
“So I think Russia will defeat the Ukrainian army politically by late summer or early fall. We still have time until the end of October,” said expert Scott Ritter, who believes that with this roadmap, Russia will achieve a strategic victory over Ukraine.
On the Kiev side, President Zelensky is facing many problems. Poland, a close ally, is essentially putting pressure on Ukraine. Germany is starting to distance itself, and similarly in the US, the Ukraine issue is dividing the country internally.
Former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter believes that Russia's continued pressure on Ukraine is not aimed at freezing the conflict, but at continuing to exert military pressure, in order to accelerate the process of political collapse. As a result, this war will not last forever.
Scott Ritter also said that when it comes to politics, it is difficult to make any predictions, but Russia does not want to prolong this conflict any longer than necessary.
“Ukraine is scheduled to hold elections next year. I think that in the region where these elections are held, we will see a political crisis that could lead to the collapse of the current government. And this raises the question of who will replace Mr. Zelensky and what their views are on ending the conflict,” the former US intelligence officer said.
Militarily, Mr. Scott Ritter said, the Ukrainian army has been destroyed. The question is whether Russia will try to go all the way, or just maintain pressure to wait for a political crisis later this year or next spring.
