According to information from Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, on October 16, baby Ly Trung T. (16 months old, residing in Tri Le commune, Que Phong district) was admitted to the hospital with a chest wound. Through X-rays, doctors discovered a round, radiopaque foreign object penetrating from the outside into the chest wall of baby T., causing a ruptured pleura, an extremely dangerous condition.

After an interdisciplinary consultation, the doctors located the foreign object using the C-ARM monitor to detect the radiopaque foreign object, performed surgery and successfully removed the foreign object. The foreign object was an iron bicycle ball.

T.'s family said that before that, T. was playing with some older boys with a plastic gun. Because the gun ran out of plastic bullets, a 10-year-old neighbor boy used a bicycle ball to test fire, injuring T.

Doctor Thai Van Binh - Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Burns, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital said that after the surgery, the patient was alert and could eat and drink normally. After 4 days of treatment, the health condition of patient Ly Trung T. has stabilized. On October 20, T.'s family asked for the child to be discharged from the hospital due to difficult circumstances.
