The body of the woman who jumped off Ben Thuy bridge and committed suicide was found.

On the afternoon of April 8, Mr. Nguyen Khac Duc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Thanh Commune (Yen Thanh District) said that search and rescue forces and relatives found the body of Ms. Vo Thi Hien (born in 1989, residing in Hoa Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District, Nghe An) on the Lam River downstream of Ben Thuy Bridge.

“Currently, Ms. Hien’s body has been brought back to her hometown and is being prepared for burial according to local customs. The reason why Ms. Hien jumped off the bridge is still unclear. The family said that before jumping off the bridge, Ms. Hien called her relatives to say “I’m leaving and hope everyone understands”. Ms. Hien has just transferred to work as an accountant at Hoa Thanh Kindergarten since the beginning of the last school year and has not started a family yet,” Mr. Duc added.

As reported by Nghe An newspaper, at around 9:15 a.m. on April 8, passersby were shocked to see a woman climb onto the railing of Ben Thuy bridge and jump into Lam river to commit suicide.

At that time, due to the surprise and the high bridge, deep river, and fast flowing water, no one dared to jump into the Lam River to save the woman.

People reported the incident to the authorities. Many curious passersby also stopped their motorbikes on Ben Thuy bridge to watch the incident.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Team of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department of Nghe An Province Police arrived at the scene, bringing vehicles down to Lam River to search for the woman.
