Youth delegates talk about following Uncle Ho's spirit of lifelong learning

(Baonghean.vn) - How to study and maintain the spirit of lifelong learning, sharing personal experiences in studying and training are the exciting contents presented by delegates at the Forum "Youth studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings on the spirit of lifelong learning".

On the afternoon of May 30, as part of the National Congress of Advanced Youth, a delegation of 66 advanced youths participated in a forum to exchange ideas on the topic "Youth learn and follow Uncle Ho's teachings on the spirit of lifelong learning".

Attending the forum were comrades: Bui Quang Huy - Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector of Vinh University; Le Van Luong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association, Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union.

The forum aims to exchange and contribute ideas to affirm and clarify the role and significance of the spirit of lifelong learning following the example of President Ho Chi Minh for today's young generation. From there, apply it in practice, work, study, form habits and methods in daily life.

The forum awarded scholarships to 10 outstanding students.

All 11 opinions at the forum expressed admiration and honor for Uncle Ho's spirit of lifelong learning, and affirmed that young people need to always study and practice lifelong learning. President Ho Chi Minh is a shining example of morality, self-study, and lifelong learning. During his lifetime, he always attached importance to studying and improving the qualifications of cadres and party members. He reminded: "If you want to progress forever, you must study. Study from books and newspapers, study in work, study with your colleagues, study from the masses. Study to develop your strengths and correct your shortcomings."

Uncle Ho's lifelong learning example has left many valuable lessons and instructions, including very basic content that we need to learn and follow. He once said:“We must study and engage in revolutionary activities all our lives. As long as we are alive, we must study and engage in revolutionary activities”; “I am 71 years old this year, and I have to study every day... If I don’t study, I won’t be able to keep up, and work will leave me behind”;or“Learn at school, learn from books, learn from each other and learn from the people”This viewpoint is both close and practical, and contains the comprehensive scope and great thoughts of President Ho Chi Minh.

Delegate Ly Thi Thiem, a Dao ethnic woman, married a Mong man in Yen Bai province, is the Secretary of the Youth Union of Mu Cang Chai commune. Delegate Thiem shared the story of the Dao ethnic woman's determination to go to school after getting married. After giving birth, she continued to go to high school, taking her young child with her. With great determination, she finished high school, then finished university and returned to her hometown to become the secretary of the youth union. She studied Mong herself and strived to complete her tasks excellently, especially the work of mobilizing people to support the construction of infrastructure projects in her hometown of Mu Cang Chai. Delegate Thiem herself is also a typical example of economic development with a scale of hundreds of pigs and hundreds of chickens. Therefore, according to Thiem, to maintain lifelong learning, one must have great determination, perseverance and hard work.

Delegate Cao Xuan Huy - Secretary of Lam Thao District Youth Union, Phu Tho Province, said that to promote the lifelong learning movement, the key force is the youth, teenagers and children. Therefore, it is necessary to build a learning society, in which the role of the Youth Union and the Youth and Children's Teams is emphasized.

Delegate Nguyen Thi Oanh - Secretary of the Youth Union of the Vietnam Internet Center expressed her opinion: "When you are better and more progressive, you will help your family in many different ways. When each employee and each cadre does well in their position, they will contribute to helping the organization improve." And this delegate concluded that lifelong learning needs to follow 5 contents including: studying, researching, learning about one's professional work; practicing presentation skills; learning and practicing English; learning and practicing communication skills, ethics, lifestyle; learning and practicing physical fitness.

Delegate Nguyen Hong Ninh - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Quang Nam Sports Training and Competition Center said that depending on one's own circumstances, there are many ways to learn. If students are given knowledge from teachers, staff receive knowledge from their superiors and managers, then for athletes, the coach is a living dictionary that helps athletes receive knowledge to form new skills and awareness in the process of training and self-development.

Learning at school, friends and learning from people

Delegate Nguyen Van Hoang - Military Youth Committee, Political Commissar of Battalion of Army Corps 4, said that studying at school is learning general, general knowledge, which is necessary, the foundation for knowledge. But if it stops there, it is nothing. Studying from books is digging deeper, digging deeper, expanding and improving one step further the knowledge acquired from studying at school, but that is not enough. Learning from each other is learning from friends, through friends; this is supplementing, interacting with each other to overcome the shortcomings of self-study and acquiring knowledge at school, but that is not enough.
