Ukrainian ambassador, who insulted German Chancellor, decides to apologize
Ukrainian Ambassador to Berlin Andrei Melnyk, who once called German Chancellor Olaf Scholz a “self-centered sausage”, has decided to apologize a month and a half after this incident. He said this in an interview published on the website of the German magazine Spiegel.

“Looking back, I certainly regret saying that... I personally will apologize to him,” the diplomat said.
Melnik added that his actions had upset President Vladimir Zelensky and he had to explain this to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba. The ambassador now wanted to speak privately with the German Chancellor.
News of Mr. Scholz’s insults appeared in Spiegel in early May. He himself declined to comment on the remarks about him. However, the insulting comparison angered Germans on social media, with many calling for the Ukrainian ambassador to be dismissed.
These were not the only harsh words the Ukrainian diplomat allowed himself to say about the German authorities. In particular, he condemned Berlin's indecision in providing military assistance and stated that Germany's unwillingness to supply Ukraine with tanks and infantry fighting vehicles was "a shame that will go down in history." In addition, he accused former Chancellor Angela Merkel of not being self-critical.
