US Colonel Gives Two Possible Reasons for Ukraine's Failure

Ria Novosti quoted US Colonel Daniel Davis expressing his opinion in an article published on 19Fortyfive that the West's underestimation of Russia's military potential and the pride of President Volodymyr Zelensky will lead to Ukraine's failure.
Colonel Daniel Davis questioned whether Ukraine has the ability to achieve success going forward, given the current situation. According to this expert, if one follows an honest assessment of the military, economic and political context, “the answer is no.”
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost tens of thousands of soldiers, despite being trained by the most experienced, in their efforts to regain control of the territory. As President Zelensky and Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Zaluzhny consolidate their successes in late 2022, they are beginning to form new offensive forces to try to regain control of more territory from Russia in 2023. The pride of 2022 has gone to their heads, as they have only achieved limited successes on the battlefield. This will have a negative impact on Ukraine,” Colonel Daniel Davis analyzed.
According to this expert, the “dangerous” self-confidence of the Kiev government has been to blame all mistakes on Western strategy, underestimate Russia’s potential, and overestimate Ukraine’s capabilities. All of this creates a “false picture” in planning and goal setting.
“Highlighting Russia's many shortcomings and failures, while ignoring its successes, creates a distorted picture of Russia's capabilities, and thus leads to setting unattainable political goals,” said US Colonel Daniel Davis.
The expert also added that the current reality does not allow Ukraine to expect a victory. And only the US and NATO can change the strategy to help Ukraine.
