According to initial information, Duc and TVV (born in 1987, from Soc Trang) shared a rented room in Binh My commune, Cu Chi district. At around 2am the same day, Duc was sleeping when V came home from drinking and turned on the light, making Duc uncomfortable. Duc got up to turn off the light, but V turned it back on, causing the two to have a fight.
Duc took out a homemade knife hidden in the wardrobe and stabbed V in the armpit, causing V to collapse. Seeing V motionless, Duc panicked and ran out of the room and then went to the Binh My Commune Police to surrender. V was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment but did not survive.
