Dam Vinh Hung, Ngo Thanh Van and Cat Phuong were fined 10 million VND.
After reporting false information related to the epidemic, Ngo Thanh Van, Cat Phuong and Dam Vinh Hung were administratively punished. The fine for each person is 10 million VND.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Chief Inspector of the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, said that he had signed three decisions to impose administrative penalties on three artists, including Dam Vinh Hung, Cat Phuong and Ngo Thanh Van, for providing false information about the epidemic caused by the corona virus on their Facebook accounts, negatively affecting social order.
Therefore, the Department decided to fine all three according to Point a, Clause 3, Article 64 of Decree 174/2013/ND-CP dated November 13, 2013 of the Government regulating administrative sanctions in the fields of post, telecommunications, information technology and radio frequencies. The fine for each artist is 10 million VND.

The Department Inspectorate said that it applied mitigating circumstances because Dam Vinh Hung, Cat Phuong, and Ngo Thanh Van all realized that the mistake was due to haste, not verifying the source of information, and promptly voluntarily removed information with false content.
"According to the regulations of the penalty framework for this violation, it is from 20-30 million VND for organizations. Individual violations are subject to 1/2 of the penalty for organizations. Therefore, the penalty according to the framework is 10-15 million VND. The Department applied mitigating circumstances, so the 3 artists were fined 10 million VND," Mr. Tho explained.

Previously, Ngo Thanh Van, Dam Vinh Hung, and Cat Phuong went to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications to work. According to the working minutes, all three said that they wanted to inform people about the corona virus epidemic so they gave inaccurate information.
However, after verifying that the above information was not true, all three removed it. The three artists all hoped that the Department would consider lenient punishment and pledged to comply with the law.
