A French research team has found a link between obesity and prostate cancer, the Beijing Science and Technology Daily reported. In a clinical study on mice, they found that fat cells can release a protein that plays an important role in the development of prostate cancer in rodents.

This finding provides further evidence for the accuracy of the speculation that "obesity increases the risk of prostate cancer". From there, it opens up prospects for developing new strategies in prostate cancer treatment.

Many scientists and doctors have long believed that there is a strong link between obesity and prostate cancer. They have provided a lot of empirical evidence to support this idea, but no one has been able to explain the mechanism of the disease.

To find the answer to this question, Catherine Miller and a team of scientists from the University of Toulous, France, conducted a special study on mice.

They found that fat cells from obese mice, like human fat cells, secrete a protein called CCL7, which then binds to a receptor called CCR3. CCR3 is found in prostate cancer cells, so they speculate that the binding between the receptor and the protein gives rise to cancer cells.

A total of 40 mice were selected to participate in the above study. They were divided into two groups, one group ate high-fat food, the other group ate normal food.

After a while, scientists discovered that the invasion of prostate cancer cells in obese mice came from the increased amount of fat tissue.

After analyzing fat tissue in men with prostate cancer, the team found a link between the migration and growth of prostate cancer cells around fat cells.

Scientists not involved in the study said the findings not only provide further evidence of the link between obesity and prostate cancer, but also open up new avenues for the development of drugs to treat prostate cancer.
