The Communist Party of the United States of America speaks out on the death of Fidel Castro

CPUSA - The Communist Party of the USA has issued a statement on the career of Cuban leader Fidel, praising his 'flexible and steadfast' leadership.

The opening of the communique posted by the Communist Party USA on its website reads as follows: “The Communist Party USA joins millions of people around the world in mourning the passing of our beloved comrade, Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, leader of the heroic Cuban people and leader of the fighters for national liberation and socialism throughout the world.”

The Communist Party of the USA recalled that Fidel was not only the leader of the Cuban government but was also twice elected to the head position of the Non-Aligned Nations organization.

The communiqué highlighted Fidel's contributions to the comprehensive war against imperialism, in the political, military, economic and ideological aspects. The communiqué stressed that Fidel Castro transformed the Cuban revolution from a national democratic anti-imperialist revolution into a socialist revolution, a feat that shook the world.

The communique said: “Comrade Fidel’s example is a guiding star for the cause of socialism, leading an armed uprising against the US-backed Batista dictatorship, building a victorious revolutionary movement. This movement had the participation of the insurgents, urban workers and rural farmers. The achievements of the Cuban Revolution show that a revolutionary working class and a determined, steadfast and persistent people can create these miracles.”

The Communist Party USA website recounts the victories of revolutionary Cuba, including how it took just one year to wipe out illiteracy - a legacy of colonial rule.

The Communist Party USA also praised Cuba's achievement in developing a world-class health system, despite the country's centuries of colonial plunder.

“Cuba has trained tens of thousands of physicians who practice in countries and regions around the world, including Africa, Latin America, and Haiti. We [Americans] are also especially grateful for [Cuba’s] help in training nearly 200 American physicians who now practice in both urban and rural areas across the United States.”

In addition, American communists also recognized Cuba as a world leader in the development of organic and sustainable agriculture, recycling industries, and long-range development planning.

Steadfast at the turning point of history

The announcement of the Communist Party of the United States pointed out that Cuban leader Fidel always had absolute faith in the strength of the Cuban people to lead the Cuban revolution to overcome the greatest challenges.

The statement also praised the heroism of the Cuban people and their Communist Party for undermining the anti-Castro campaign of many previous US presidents.

According to the Communist Party of the United States, the campaigns against Cuba and the assassination of the democratically elected leader Fidel Castro, although not successful, resulted in many deaths and caused immeasurable damage to the country of Cuba.

At the end of the communique, the Communist Party of the USA pledged to continue the struggle against the “illegal blockade” against Cuba, to build friendly relations between the American and Cuban peoples, and to realize Fidel Castro’s vision of a just and humane world./
