“13 people were killed and 14 injured when a suicide bomber attacked Shinwari’s house,” the Nangarhar governor said in a statement.
However, politician Shinwari was unharmed in the attack.
This is the second deadly attack in the city since January 13 when the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) organization claimed responsibility for the deadly shooting and bombing at the Pakistani consulate.
The incident comes after international efforts to resume peace talks between the Kabul government and the Taliban insurgent group.
