Identity of 2 subjects who drove motorbike through checkpoint, hitting Captain Le Dinh Cong
On the morning of August 22, a representative of the Mobile Police Department (CSCĐ) - Hanoi City Police said that a soldier of the unit was seriously injured when he stopped two young men from "passing through the checkpoint" on the street.
At around 8:10 p.m. on August 21, Nguyen Ba Hoai Nam (born 2007, residing in Phuc Thinh commune, Hanoi) drove a motorbike carrying Nguyen Van Quan (born 2007, residing in Tien Thang commune, Hanoi) at high speed on Nghi Tam street, heading towards Au Co.

At this time, the Hanoi City Police force was on duty to block the road for the rehearsal of the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. Realizing that the group of young people had signs of endangering the parade formation and the people, the working group at the checkpoint in front of house number 336A Nghi Tam signaled for the vehicle to stop.
However, instead of complying, Nam drove straight into Captain Le Dinh Cong - an officer of the Traffic Police Department. The collision was so strong that all three fell onto the road, Captain Cong was unconscious on the spot. Immediately, the task force controlled and arrested the two subjects and took all three to the hospital for emergency treatment.

A representative of the CSCĐ Department said: "Captain Cong showed courage and was ready to confront and prevent acts of disregard for the law, ensuring the safety of the people and the country's important events."
That same night, Colonel Le Van Tuan - Deputy Director of the City Police Department, along with leaders of the Mobile Police Department, were present at the hospital to visit and encourage the soldier and his family.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung - Director of Hanoi City Police - affirmed: "The act of disregarding the law and attacking law enforcement officers is unacceptable. The two subjects have been arrested and will be strictly punished for deterrence and prevention."
The incident caused public outrage, because the reckless behavior of the two subjects not only directly threatened the lives of the CSCĐ soldiers but also endangered security and order at a particularly important political and social event.
The Director of the City Police Department has directed functional units to investigate and prosecute the subjects according to the law; at the same time, fully implement the regime and policies for Captain Le Dinh Cong.
