National Assembly Deputies Speak Out About Proposal to Remove Mr. Vo Kim Cu
The proposal to remove Mr. Vo Kim Cu from office is normal because if all violations are discovered, he is no longer qualified to hold that position.
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the conference of full-time National Assembly deputies this morning, Deputy Luu Binh Nhuong said that the proposal to remove Mr. Vo Kim Cu, Chairman of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance and former Secretary of Ha Tinh Province due to his involvement in the Formosa case, is normal.

Delegate Luu Binh Nhuong said that if violations are fully discovered and the person is no longer qualified to hold that position, then the regulations will be followed to handle the matter. This is also in line with public opinion's demands on Party agencies in recent times.
“This is also normal, don't think it's difficult or complicated. We also have to get used to accepting this problem. Those involved themselves must also get used to accepting this problem," said Deputy Nhuong.
"If I were Mr. Cu, I would not participate in the National Assembly."
Deputy Luu Binh Nhuong reiterated the content of the Prime Minister's question and answer at the previous session about the culture of resignation.
"If it were me, I would resign instead of waiting for disciplinary action. Whether the agency disciplines me is another matter, but I cannot sit there for a long time, I cannot stand it. Personally, I cannot accept it," Mr. Nhuong expressed.
Regarding Mr. Vo Kim Cu's qualifications as a National Assembly deputy, according to Mr. Nhuong, this will be considered according to the Law on Organization of the National Assembly. If he no longer meets the standards of a National Assembly deputy, the agencies of the National Assembly will consider it.
“My personal opinion is just my opinion, I cannot make a decision. It must be compared with the regulations and standards for National Assembly deputies, and considered before the election. The agencies should not have put Mr. Cu on the list when there were so many concerns. If I were Mr. Cu, I would not participate in the National Assembly either.”
He believes that a person with shortcomings, if he resigns, is more praised than if he continues.
According to Mr. Nhuong, this is measured by many different metrics. The Party agencies themselves see that if they continue to use it, it is not beneficial, people express too many opinions, there may be right opinions, wrong opinions but they must be filtered.
“When the Party's will and the people's will match, we do not hesitate. There are invisible measuring sticks, so if you are a Party member, especially those in high positions, you must be very careful, then measure yourself to behave properly, not greedy for power and position."
He also raised the issue of some lawbreakers using the "hat" of National Assembly deputies to avoid prosecution.
"It was extremely painful, but it was handled very quickly because it was very clear," noted Deputy Nhuong.
Work to stabilize people's hearts
Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Binh Province Nguyen Ngoc Phuong said that the spirit of handling and holding accountable organizations and individuals related to the Formosa incident comes from the Prime Minister's direction and all of the Government's reports on Formosa also mention this issue.

No civil servant or leader wants to have or admit his faults. If the Government's inspection agency clearly points out Mr. Vo Kim Cu's wrongdoings in causing the Formosa incident, it would be normal for the Central Party Committee of Enterprises to vote to propose disciplinary action against Mr. Cu.
"Proposing disciplinary action against Mr. Vo Kim Cu is the first step to determine responsibility and handle the responsibility of the person who directly caused the Formosa incident," said Mr. Phuong, adding that this is a step to stabilize the people's hearts.
"People will be very satisfied if the organizations and individuals responsible for these violations are punished," emphasized the Deputy Head of the Quang Binh Provincial Delegation.
He also said that the above handling will strengthen the Party organization's trust in the Government in the administrative management process, especially when environmental issues are emerging not only in Ha Tinh, but in many other localities.
Regarding the process of considering the qualifications of National Assembly Deputy Vo Kim Cu, Mr. Phuong said that the National Assembly only considers based on proposals and recommendations from local consultative organizations and Fatherland Fronts, specifically Ha Tinh province.
