Proposing 3 models for coastal environmental protection in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - The objective of the integrated coastal zone management project is to effectively implement the strategy and action plan to implement the National and Nghe An Province Integrated Coastal Zone Management Strategy to 2020, with a vision to 2030, contributing to the implementation of the Vietnam Integrated Coastal Zone Management Strategy.
On the afternoon of March 12, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to summarize the 2018 integrated coastal zone management project and develop a plan to implement tasks in 2019 in Nghe An. Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference.

The project is implemented in coastal communes, wards and towns in the districts and towns of Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Nghi Loc, Hoang Mai, Cua Lo and Vinh city.
The sea area is the coastal seawater area calculated from the coastal seawater edge out to 6 nautical miles, extending to include Hon Mat and Hon Ngu islands of the province.
At the conference, delegates discussed three proposed pilot models in the coming period, including: Mangrove forest development model associated with ecotourism development in Hung Hoa commune (Vinh city); model of reducing, reusing, and recycling solid waste for Cua Lo town; integrated environmental monitoring program for coastal areas of Nghe An province in the period of 2021 - 2025.

Members also contributed ideas on developing mangrove ecotourism and doing a good job of handling coastal waste.
Some opinions suggested that the project side should promote communication work regularly and continuously through different forms of communication.

In 2019, the Project Coordination Office will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies, units and localities to continue organizing communication activities on integrated coastal zone management as planned; deploying a comprehensive environmental monitoring program within the project framework, training to enhance capacity for field monitoring and laboratory analysis of the marine environment.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the parties participating in the project to achieve results in raising awareness and attracting community participation in protecting coastal resources and environment of the province; providing scientific basis for investment projects related to exploitation, use and management of environmental resources in the province.
For the proposed pilot models, the project side continues to record the proposed opinions of sectors and localities to complete the plan and implement it in the coming time./.
