Initial information said that at around 5:00 p.m. on December 9, a group of 6 students went to a bridge in Nghi Hoa ward, Cua Lo town to fish.

At this time, unfortunately, two male students Mai Trung Hieu (grade 9, residing in Nghi Hoa ward) and Hoang Thanh Cong (also grade 9, residing in Nghi Huong ward) fell into a deep puddle at the foot of the bridge.

Seeing that, the male student Nguyen Van Tai jumped in to save him but the water was too deep so he also struggled. Immediately, the male students who were with him called for people to come and save the male student Nguyen Van Tai. The two male students Cong and Hieu were drowned.

About 30 minutes later, people were able to pull the bodies of the two victims ashore.
