Frederick was initially unsure if the diamond was real, as he found it just a meter away from where he was standing. The diamond was pearly white and roughly triangular in shape. The Fredericks decided to name the diamond "Lucky." Photo: CNN. |
"Dan Frederick has proven that it is possible to find large diamonds at this park. This is something that all visitors to the park dream of," said park representative Betty Coors.
The value of the diamond is currently unknown. This depends on its clarity, color, and carat, but it is certainly worth much more than the $16 (over 300,000 VND) park entrance fee that Fredericks and his father spent.
According to a tourist who seemed to be knowledgeable about prices, a 0.5 carat diamond costs $3,000. But if it were 1 carat, the number would be doubled, to $10,000 instead of $6,000. Therefore, many people calculated that the diamond of the father and son tourists could sell for $20,000.
Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas, USA is the only diamond site in the world open to visitors, allowing them to freely dig and own the diamonds they find.
