Previously, on October 24, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Hoa Town Police received a report from Mr. Vu Van Hung (born in 1974), residing in Block 3, Long Son Ward, Thai Hoa Town, about his family being robbed of a silver YAMAHA JUPITER motorbike, license plate 37L2-6498. After receiving the report, the Town Police established Project 118T to investigate and clarify the case.

Using professional measures, the Special Investigation Committee screened criminal suspects in the city and neighboring districts and identified Vu Van Dung in Nghia Dan as having many unclear signs regarding time and money.

Dung is a drug addict, often "disappearing" from the area for a few days and then returning.

On November 28, after collecting sufficient evidence and documents, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Hoa City Police issued a decision to urgently arrest Vu Van Dung for the act of theft of property.

At the investigation agency, Dung initially confessed that on October 24, Dung took a bus from Nghia Dan to Thai Hoa town, then got off the bus and wandered around. When he arrived at Vu Van Hung's house in block 3, Long Son ward, Thai Hoa town, he saw that no one was watching his motorbike in the yard. Dung used a pliers to break the lock and got on the motorbike to escape.

Using similar methods from July to November 2017, Dung committed a total of 8 thefts worth nearly 150 million VND in Quy Hop, Nghia Dan districts and Thai Hoa town.
