(Baonghean) - "Nghe Tinh is truly worthy of the title "Red" - the praise of comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc for the people of Nghe Tinh has affirmed the historical significance as well as the influence of the Nghe Tinh Soviet Movement in the hearts of every child of the Central region in particular and the whole country in general. 85 years - a long journey with many ups and downs of history, but the passionate patriotism and the spirit of solidarity against foreign invaders of the period 1930 - 1931 still retain their value in today's era.

In the handbook of red addresses in the revolutionary homeland, it is impossible not to mention the Thai Lao Martyrs Monument, located on National Highway 46 passing through Hung Nguyen Town. This is the place to commemorate 217 martyrs who fell on September 12, 1930, when the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement reached its peak with the uprising of about 8,000 farmers. Those who sacrificed their lives in the massacre by the French colonialists at that time, apart from a few who were brought back by their relatives for burial, most of them remain in the mass grave in Thai Lao field.

In 1956, the Nghe An Department of Culture was assigned by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to build the Thai Lao Martyrs' Cemetery. In 1960, the cemetery was completed with a relatively modest scale, only about 200 square meters. In 1961, during President Ho Chi Minh's second visit to his hometown, he visited the Thai Lao Martyrs' Monument and advised: "The blood of martyrs who sacrificed in the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement has added color to the Party's flag. Cadres and people must build and protect this area into a Revolutionary Historical Relic Site". In 1988, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to recognize the Thai Lao Martyrs' Monument as a National Historical Relic Site. In 2009, the Provincial People's Committee established a project to renovate and upgrade the memorial area with a scale of 12.9 hectares; Currently, many basic items have been completed such as the church, tomb area, Tam Quan gate, etc. and construction of other items is underway.

Aware of the importance of preserving and promoting historical values, a group of cadres and employees were assigned to be on duty at Thai Lao Martyrs' Cemetery, ensuring the care and cleaning of the landscape, welcoming visitors, delegations offering incense and flowers, as well as serving people in commemorating the souls of martyrs. In addition, students from schools in the province in general and in Hung Nguyen district in particular such as Thai Lao High School, Le Hong Phong Middle School, etc. regularly organize groups to clean up, participate in activities listening to explanations, introducing and learning about the history of the struggles of our ancestors.

Another stop for those interested in learning about the revolutionary tradition in the resilient land of Nghe An is the Nghe Tinh Soviet Museum with a spacious campus, nestled on Dao Tan Street. This is also an area near the Vinh Citadel Relic, preserving the profound, ancient features in the heart of the city that is changing every day. This place preserves artifacts that are witnesses to the heroic and indomitable struggle of the working class and farmers. Established in 1960, holding the position of a museum specializing in the Nghe Tinh Soviet Movement - a priceless heritage of the first revolutionary movement under the leadership of the Party, this place currently stores 15,000 documents and artifacts, including 6,500 original documents and artifacts, 2,000 pages of French documents, 5,000 files of revolutionary soldiers and hundreds of memoirs. About 500 of the most typical artifacts were selected for display, serving tens of millions of visitors from all over the country and abroad.

Each exhibition space and each artifact is associated with authentic stories, partly recreating the vibrant and powerful atmosphere of the Nghe Tinh Soviet struggle movement of the past. The leaflets; the drums that were beaten with resounding sounds in 1930-1931 to call for the people's hearts; the weapons of the Red Self-Defense Forces in Anh Son, Thanh Chuong; the objects that helped print, hide documents, and serve the meetings of revolutionary cadres; the reliefs simulating the struggle movement of the past,... all are preserved intact, as if just waiting for a call to arms, the image of thousands of farmers and workers protesting to demand tax reduction, reduced working hours, and proper rights despite the colonial yoke poured into the consciousness of every person who visited the museum.

Not only a place to preserve artifacts, the Nghe Tinh Soviet Museum is also a school of revolutionary history, educating and inspiring patriotism and national pride for the younger generation. Every year, the museum welcomes 17,000 - 18,000 visitors, of which more than 10,000 are students, showing that the need to learn about history of the future owners of the country is not small. Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thuy - Director of the Museum said: “Since 2007, the Nghe Tinh Soviet Museum has advised the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Education and Training to sign a coordination plan to bring education on the Nghe Tinh Soviet tradition into schools. Up to now, the program has achieved many positive results, creating 1 documentary film, 2 extracurricular lectures on the Nghe Tinh Soviet theme for students in grades 9 and 12. Every year, the Museum also coordinates with the Department of Education and Training of Vinh City to bring students to visit and research, organize extracurricular activities at the Museum, coordinate with the education sector to regularly organize 10-12 cultural exchange competitions, historical research, mobile exhibitions to bring images of the Nghe Tinh Soviet to schools, actively contributing to educating the tradition of patriotism and revolutionary tradition for the young generation, recognized by the people".
