The US warned China it would make a big mistake if it violated sanctions against Russia.President Biden revealed in an interview with CBS on the evening of September 18 that he called the Chinese President earlier this year after Xi Jinping met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing during the Olympics.
“I said, ‘If you think the United States and other countries are going to continue to invest in China after you violated the sanctions on Russia, you are making a huge mistake, but that is your decision,’” Biden said. The US leader also said the call was “not to threaten” the Chinese president but to warn him of the consequences of breaking sanctions.
The US declared its support for Ukraine until it regained all its territory.US President Joe Biden pledged that Washington will continue to provide military support to Ukraine until the country regains all its territory.
“The price the Ukrainians are paying for this war is very high. But we will stand with them as long as they need our help,” US President Joe Biden said in an interview with CBS on the evening of September 18. Significant support from the US and its allies, along with the determination and resilience of the Ukrainian people, has helped Ukraine prevail on several fronts in its conflict with Russia.
Hungary warns Ukraine could lose half its territory in conflict with Russia.Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban believes Ukraine could lose between a third and a half of its territory due to the conflict with Russia. He warned that the fighting between Russia and Ukraine could last until 2030. The crisis began as a local conflict but Western intervention has turned it into a global issue.
Mr Orban again criticised EU sanctions against Russia, saying the bloc had shot itself in the foot with such actions. The Hungarian leader added that the energy crisis caused by those sanctions could force 40% of European industry to shut down this winter.
The US is on high alert for Russia's next move.US troops in Europe are on high alert over concerns about how Russia will respond to Ukraine's counter-offensives in recent weeks.
Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley reportedly reviewed defense systems at a base in Poland and called on US troops in Europe to remain at a high state of readiness amid uncertainty about how Russia will respond to Ukraine's counterattacks on the battlefield.
According to reporters, the base in Poland was built shortly before Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine in February. It is believed to be an important center for training Ukrainian forces and supplying weapons to the country. US officials say the base could become a target of Russian attack.
Russia announced the destruction of Ukraine's ammunition depot, shooting down 8 UAVs.Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said the country's military had destroyed an ammunition depot of Ukraine's 14th Motorized Brigade near Kharkiv, which contained more than 7,500 artillery shells for artillery systems supplied to Kiev by the West.
Russian air defense systems also shot down eight Ukrainian drones in the Kharkiv region and the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic in the past 24 hours. Eight HIMARS missiles were destroyed in the Novaya Kakhovka area of Kherson and the city of Kherson, Konashenkov said.
Russia closes in on key city in eastern Ukraine. The New York Times reported that Russian troops were closing in on Bakhmut, a city with a pre-war population of 70,000 that is crucial to Russia’s goal of controlling the mineral-rich remainder of the Donbass region.
When the Russian army took control of the city of Lysychansk in early July and consolidated control of Lugansk - one of the two provinces of Donbass, Bakhmut soon became the focus of Russia's offensive campaign./.
