Although it is still early in the season, every day Mr. Pham Bang - Hamlet 17 Dien Thinh has purchased up to a ton of fresh peanuts to dry, grind and sell to agents. He shared: I have been trading peanuts for about 12 years. A few years ago, I traveled a lot and had few people to help at home, so I only bought a few dozen tons. One ton of fresh peanuts had to be dried in the sun for 3 days, then ground, winnowed and picked before selling to others. Each month, I earned several tens of millions of dong.
With the acumen of peanut growers, Dien Thinh is the place where the peanut-shredding profession first appeared in Dien Chau for more than ten years. Out of a total of 3,000 households in the commune, there are 1,200 households that buy and process peanuts and there are 6 agents specializing in peanut export. From only buying within the district by bicycle and motorbike, now Dien Thinh people buy trucks to get goods from Hue, Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa with the amount of peanuts in shell up to nearly 15,000 tons/crop.
