Dien Chau eradicates prostitution at Hon Cau tourist area
(Baonghean.vn) - Within 1 month (from March 15 to April 15), the functional departments of Dien Chau district eradicated the prostitution spot at Hon Cau Tourist Area (Dien Hai commune, Dien Chau district).
The prostitution situation at Hon Cau beach resort, Dien Hai commune has recently shown signs of becoming more complicated, creating negative public opinion and causing many consequences for society. In this situation, Dien Chau District Police has advised the District People's Committee to plan and direct relevant agencies and local authorities to take action.
On March 9, 2020, the District Police Chief issued a decision to establish a Working Group to regularly patrol the Hon Cau sea area, prevent and strictly handle crimes and prostitution.

Starting from March 15, the working group coordinated with the Dien Hai commune government, Dien Thanh Border Guard Station and the functional forces of the district and Dien Hai commune to organize a synchronous peak attack. Accordingly, focusing on propaganda and mobilizing the masses to strictly comply with the provisions of the law, organizing 11 hotel owners and 132 business establishments in Hon Cau beach resort to commit not to violate the law, not to harbor or broker prostitution. Organizing 24/24 hour patrols to promptly detect and handle violations.
After several days of operation, the task force has basically eliminated prostitution at Hon Cau beach. Through inspection of 11 motels, 3 prostitutes were discovered and handed over to local authorities and their families for management.

Dien Chau District Police have prosecuted 1 case, 1 subject for prostitution, administratively sanctioned 2 subjects for buying and selling sex, and fined 1,500,000 VND. 5 subjects were found to have violated regulations on temporary residence and temporary absence.
“Many business owners have changed their mindset, many shops have proactively cleaned up their belongings, liquidated their assets, renewed their boats, and purchased fishing equipment to change their careers. After only a short time of launching the campaign, the prostitution spot at Hon Cau Dien Hai has been basically eradicated,” said Major Vu Van Quang, Deputy Captain of the Criminal Police Team of Dien Chau Police, adding that on March 21, the authorities continued to launch a campaign to crack down on prostitution at the Dien Thanh beach resort, creating uniformity in Dien Chau district.
