Congratulatory message on the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2017) and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - July 18, 2017), on July 17, the senior leaders of Vietnam and Laos exchanged congratulatory messages.

General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairwoman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan sent congratulatory messages and flower baskets to Lao leaders including Mr. Bounnhang Vorachith, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Mr. Thonglun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and Ms. Pany Yathotou, Chairwoman of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

In the congratulatory message from Vietnamese leaders to Lao leaders, there is a paragraph that reads:

“The Vietnamese people are very happy and proud of the traditional relationship of loyalty, solidarity, sharing joys and sorrows, of the two peoples always standing side by side throughout the history of the struggle for national liberation as well as the cause of construction and development of each country...

We are extremely pleased to note that over the past 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos have achieved comprehensive and great results, making important contributions to the cause of fighting against common enemies, gaining national independence, and building and developing the two countries.

The two Parties, two States and peoples of the two countries have made constant efforts to develop the relationship between the two countries to become increasingly deeper, practical and effective in all fields with many rich and diverse forms of cooperation on all Party, State and people channels; between all sectors and localities; both bilateral and multilateral cooperation."

In the congratulatory message from Lao leaders to Vietnamese leaders, there is a paragraph that reads:

“The Lao Party, State and people are very happy and proud to see that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have always stood shoulder to shoulder, supported and helped the Lao people throughout the past period, not only during the long and arduous resistance war for national salvation, but also during the current period of national construction and development.

The traditional spirit of friendship, solidarity and fighting alliance in the revolutionary cause of the two Parties, two States and peoples of our two countries in the past has become a solid foundation for the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam today and continues to be preserved and nurtured, increasingly going into depth, practical and effective in all fields."

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the National Steering Committee for the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year Pham Binh Minh and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Standing Committee of the Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year Saleumxay Komasith also exchanged congratulatory messages./.
