Joint anti-terrorism exercise at Vietnam-China border gate

On November 4, at Mong Cai International Border Gate (Mong Cai City), Mong Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station (Border Guard of Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam) and Dongxing Border Inspection Station (Border Police General Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China) held a joint exercise on counter-terrorism and emergency situation handling at the Vietnam-China border gate in 2016.

This is the first time the border protection forces of the two localities of the two countries have organized a drill at the international border gate area.

During the joint exercise, in a hypothetical situation, 3 subjects, including 2 subjects with unknown identities, used fake passports to exit Mong Cai International Border Gate (Vietnam) through Dong Hung Border Gate, entering China to commit terrorist acts.

Upon receiving the information, the Dongxing Border Guard (China) immediately informed the Mong Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station (Vietnam) via the hotline; and at the same time, developed a plan to coordinate in handling the situation.

Upon receiving the notification, the Mong Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station quickly deployed forces, coordinated to control and arrest the terrorists, and neutralized the bomb with specialized equipment.

The joint exercise created an important highlight in foreign affairs activities between the two provinces of Quang Ninh and Guangxi in general, and the two Stations in particular.

At the same time, further strengthen cooperation to ensure compliance with each side's laws and international treaties, and improve the effectiveness of handling unexpected situations at the two sides' border gates.

Thereby creating opportunities for both sides to exchange and learn from each other in coordinating the fight against crimes on the border, contributing to building a peaceful, friendly, stable and developed Vietnam-China border area.

On this occasion, the border guards of Mong Cai Border Gate (Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam) and Dongxing (Guangxi, China) signed a memorandum of understanding on joint anti-terrorism drills and handling of unexpected situations at the Vietnam-China border gate in the coming time.

Accordingly, the two sides focus on enhancing cooperation in law enforcement, improving the capacity to handle unexpected situations at border gates; enhancing information exchange, improving the quality and effectiveness of information exchange; implementing joint training, jointly improving border inspection skills; enhancing professional cooperation, jointly improving the efficiency of border clearance. The two sides agreed to make August every year the month of border inspection propaganda./.
