Eulogy of the General Secretary at the Memorial Service of President Tran Dai Quang

Dear compatriots, comrades and friends, dear family of comrade Tran Dai Quang!

Comrade Tran Dai Quang - Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, Head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, National Assembly Delegate, a leader with many contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, for the happiness of the people, has left us forever. This is a great loss to our Party, State, people and his family.

Today, in infinite sorrow, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, together with comrades, compatriots, friends and family, solemnly held a ceremony to send off the comrade to his final resting place.

Dear compatriots, comrades and friends, dear family of comrade Tran Dai Quang!

Comrade Tran Dai Quang was born on October 12, 1956 in Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province - a land rich in historical, cultural, patriotic and revolutionary traditions.

He became a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam on July 26, 1980. During more than 45 years of activities and work, from when he was a student at the Central People's Police School to when he held the position of Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee, Minister of Public Security, then Politburo member, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, his life and career were closely associated with the People's Public Security force, with the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

As a member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee, Minister of Public Security, and a delegate of the 13th National Assembly, he, together with the Central Public Security Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, focused on leading, directing, and institutionalizing the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress, the political platform for national construction in the transitional period to socialism, supplemented and developed in 2011 on theEnsuring security and order, proactively directing, grasping the situation, promptly advising the Party and State on many basic policies and solutions of strategic significance to ensure national security and social order and safety; Detecting, fighting and preventing many sabotage plots of hostile and reactionary forces and all kinds of criminals, maintaining a strategic initiative, not being passive or surprised in any situation. The above efforts, endeavors and results of the comrade as the head of the People's Public Security force have contributed to maintaining independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, serving well the tasks of socio-economic development and foreign affairs of the country.

Since the 11th session of the 13th National Assembly in April 2016, as a member of the Politburo and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, he has, together with the collective leadership of the Party and State, focused on leading and directing the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army to effectively implement the Resolution of the 12th National Congress of the Party, the Resolutions of the Central Committee and the National Assembly; closely coordinated with legislative, executive and judicial agencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political and social organizations to perform the duties and powers of the President, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, and Head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform in accordance with the Party's guidelines and policies, the provisions of the Constitution and laws. Thereby contributing to promoting innovation, developing a socialist-oriented market economy, expanding foreign relations and international integration, strengthening national defense and security potential, maintaining political and social stability, and enhancing Vietnam's role, position and prestige in the international arena.

As one of the key leaders of the Party and State, he always upheld the sense of responsibility, sense of organization, set an example and maintained the solidarity and unity of the Party; loved his comrades and compatriots; was truly open-minded, modest, learned, respectfully listened to and accepted contributions; always put the interests of the Party and the nation above all; was loved by his comrades and compatriots, and respected by international friends.

At work, he is a leader with a strong political stance, steadfast in the goal of national independence and socialism, absolutely loyal to Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, the Party's platform and guidelines, and the interests of the nation and people; has a high fighting spirit, resolutely fights to protect the Party, the socialist regime, the State and the people. In the family, he is an exemplary, virtuous and compassionate husband and father.

At 63 years old and 38 years in the Party, comrade Tran Dai Quang has devoted his whole life to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation and the happiness of the people.

The Party and State have recognized and awarded him many noble medals and orders and the 30-year Party membership badge.

Dear soul of comrade Tran Dai Quang, today, we are here to express our condolences and send you off to your final resting place. Farewell comrade, we are determined to unite as one, strive together with the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army to continue following the glorious revolutionary path that the Party, beloved Uncle Ho and our people have chosen, firmly uphold Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, promote the spirit of patriotism, the will of self-reliance, self-strengthening, the strength of great national unity; comprehensively and synchronously promote the renovation process, build a prosperous Vietnam, a strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization, and steadily move towards socialism.

In this moment of grief and emotion, we respectfully send to the family of comrade Tran Dai Quang our deepest condolences for the irreparable pain and loss.
