How dangerous is it to put the wrong gasoline in a diesel engine?
Mistakenly pouring gasoline into a diesel engine will more or less damage the vehicle. However, whether the consequences are serious or not depends on how the driver handles it.
Some services advise drivers to fix the problem of misfueling, when filling the wrong fuel into a diesel engine, they must continue driving immediately, depending on the amount of diesel left in the tank, the car can still continue moving, but after a distance the engine will stall, and must be towed to the workshop for repair. If the car is left parked for a long time after filling the wrong fuel (or overnight), the car may have difficulty starting immediately when starting and quickly stall.

If the car is left for a long time without running immediately after filling with the wrong gasoline, the gasoline can cause the rubber fuel line to wear out and the driver will have to replace it.
Because oil is heavier than gasoline, it will settle at the bottom of the tank and will enter the combustion chamber first. The vehicle can still operate for a certain period of time with the remaining oil. But when the oil runs out, the gas mixture when sprayed and compressed at high pressure will spontaneously explode, ignite, expand and generate work. Since gasoline is a fuel with a lower compression ratio than oil, gasoline will spontaneously explode early, generating work before the piston completes an upward stroke. This will certainly create pressure to push the piston back, causing the connecting rod, crankshaft and engine to be completely damaged.
How to handle it safely and minimize the danger?
Absolutely do not start the engine if you discover that you have poured the wrong fuel at that moment. You should suck out all the mixed fuel, use a hand pump to pump out all the oil and gasoline, and put new oil into the high-pressure pump to continue rinsing. After cleaning the nozzle, spraying out the gasoline and oil, you can restart the engine and let it idle for 10-20 minutes to check. If it still runs normally, you can safely use it. If there is a strange noise from the engine, you should turn it off and take it to the maintenance workshop for a complete check.
If you are not confident in handling it, the best way is to turn off the engine immediately and take the car to a reputable garage for timely inspection and handling.
How to prevent?
When refueling, you should turn off the engine and get out of the car to observe while refueling. Inform the fuel type and check if the salesperson is filling the correct type of fuel. Getting out of the car to observe not only helps you avoid the risk of pumping the wrong fuel.
If you use a diesel motorbike, you can stick the word Diesel on the fuel cap as a warning. When lending it to someone else, remember to tell the borrower to carefully fill the motorbike with the correct fuel.
