Vinh City: New space, new look
(Baonghean) - Vinh City is continuing to invest heavily in infrastructure. A series of projects have been and are being completed, giving the city a new, modern appearance, worthy of a first-class urban area.

The bright spots
In 2017, with the attention and direction of the Central Government, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, all levels and sectors of Vinh city focused on actions to bring about positive socio-economic results. 22/24 targets were achieved and exceeded; economic growth rate reached 9.02% and higher than the same period (in 2016 it was 8.8%). Notably, industry - construction increased by 9.77%, services increased by 8.92%, agriculture, forestry and fishery decreased by 2.49%. Average income per capita reached 76.5 million VND / plan 76.3 million VND / year. The economic structure has shifted positively, in the right direction with the proportion of services 66.36%; the proportion of industry - construction 32.15%.
To achieve these results, the city has focused on clearing the land for many projects in the area, creating momentum to complete key projects such as: Completing site clearance and handing over to VSIP Industrial Park, projects under the Vinh Urban Sub-project, Vinh - Cua Lo road...
During the year, the city mobilized an estimated total social development investment capital of VND14,367 billion, up 11.9% over the same period. Trade, service, tourism, banking and finance, post and telecommunications, and transportation activities continued to develop. The service industry's production value was estimated at VND17,050 billion, reaching 100.3% of the plan, up 10.3% over the same period. Total retail sales of goods were estimated at VND16,800 billion, up 11.9%. Tourism activities developed steadily in both service quality and facilities, with the number of tourists reaching 1,890,000, up 1.6% over the same period, and revenue reaching VND945 billion, up 31.2% over the same period.

In the agricultural sector, there are many new models such as safe vegetables in hamlets 2 and 3 of Nghi Lien commune with a scale of 13 hectares, using Israeli technology; growing vegetables, tubers and fruits in hamlet 5, Nghi Kim commune and producing asparagus and crispy grass carp; producing high-quality rice according to VietGAP standards on 2 hectares in Hung Hoa commune; expanding mushroom production in Quan Bau, Ben Thuy, Hung Dung wards, Hung Loc commune...
Regarding foreign affairs, there have been continued developments and many positive results. Promoting activities with sister provinces of countries such as Japan and Korea, organizing the inauguration ceremony of Namjangju Dasan road and the exhibition area introducing products of Korean enterprises on the 3rd floor of Vinh market. The city has also organized work and exchanges with Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province; organized the signing of a letter of intent on sisterhood with Liuzhou city, Guangzhou province, China...
Last year, the city actively implemented urban order management, cleared violations of road and sidewalk safety corridors, etc. Education and training culture improved, security and order were ensured. In particular, education and training continued to lead the province in quality and results as shown through the 10th grade exams at Phan Boi Chau High School (valedictorian of all specialized subjects, admission rate accounted for 76%), with 67 students achieving national excellent students and 111 students achieving provincial excellent students.

New look from projects
In 2017, the city's efforts were recognized when many works and projects were completed, contributing to the elevation of a type I urban area. Typically, the Vinh Urban Development Sub-project (WB) has completed many items such as: North Canal embankment connected to a 53ha regulating lake; Citadel moat embankment, Cua Nam lake; Vinh - Hung Tay road, road connecting National Highway 46 - Lam River; covers of ditches No. 2 and No. 3. Along with that, the works: Vinh River tourist road, Le Ninh road, 160m Vinh - Cua Lo road, Le Mao extended road, Ly Thuong Kiet road, 2 Cua Nam and Quan Banh railway overpasses have been completed, promoting positive effects. In addition, the renovation of Quang Trung apartment buildings, T&T building, Trung Duc, Tecco, Muong Thanh, new urban area projects: Vinh Tan, along Le Nin Avenue, ... created highlights of the city.

Currently, Vinh City is mobilizing to implement a drainage and wastewater project using loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Mr. Nguyen Hoai An - Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee said: In 2018, the city is competing to achieve achievements in celebrating the 230th anniversary of Phuong Hoang Trung Do - Vinh, 10 years of being a class I urban area. The city's infrastructure is being invested and upgraded, a number of key projects in the area will come into operation, expanding urban space, creating new production capacity, contributing to promoting economic growth, increasing budget revenue, and improving people's lives.
The city continues to focus on implementing Decision 2468 of the Prime Minister on the Project to develop Vinh city until 2020 in the spirit of Resolution 26 of the Politburo, on that basis, attracting many investors to learn and do business, contributing to building a dynamic city, becoming the economic, cultural, social, educational and service center of the entire North Central region.
