At this time, Thao invited Tran Mai Vu (born 2000, from Vinh Long) to go find Vuong to ask him questions. Meeting at the intersection of Vi Hao residential area, Thao and Vu used helmets to hit Vuong and then left.
Fearing revenge, Thao invited Nguyen Thanh Dien (born 1996, from Hau Giang) and many other people to a coffee shop near this area to wait to beat Vuong.
At around 3:30 p.m. the same day, when Vuong was riding his motorbike past the coffee shop, Thao's group chased and forced him to stop. Vuong abandoned his motorbike and ran towards a nearby abandoned house. The group continued to attack him with sticks and stabbed him multiple times, leading to his death.
