Accompanying the delegation, on the side of Nghe An province were comrades: Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Khanh Thuc - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs; Nguyen Hai Duong - Secretary of Thanh Chuong District Party Committee; Trinh Van Nha - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee.
The search for US soldiers missing in action (MIA) has been ongoing in many provinces and cities of Vietnam for over 30 years. The Vietnamese government has conducted 156 repatriations of more than 900 sets of remains to the US government.
In Thanh Tien commune, Thanh Chuong district, the 145th MIA operation in Vietnam is taking place. Excavation at the site has been underway for 30 days and is expected to last for another 15 days.

Members of the US MIA team directly excavated at the site, with the advice of two anthropologists, delineated the area and dug about 40 cm deep during the search. Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung highly appreciated the urgent, effective and well-coordinated working atmosphere of the members of the US and Vietnamese MIA teams as well as the local people.
