Nghe An delegation won 8 medals at the national championship of martial arts originating from Russia.

Participating in the 2025 National Sambo Championship in the form of socialization, Nghe An athletes competed excellently and brought home a total of 8 medals, including 2 Gold medals.

From July 20 to 26, at the Gymnasium of Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports, the 2025 National Sambo Championship took place, organized by the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports in coordination with Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports.

This year's tournament gathered 130 athletes from 8 units, including: Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Ho Chi Minh City, Army, Nghe An, Thai Nguyen and Hue City.

Athletes compete in two main categories: Sport Sambo and Combat Sambo with weight categories for men from under 58 kg to over 98 kg and for women from under 50 kg to over 80 kg.

Participating in the socialized tournament, Nghe An delegation won a total of 8 medals, including 2 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals and 4 Bronze Medals.

In which, athletesNguyen Tat Locwon a Gold Medal in the Combat Sambo 88 kg category; Athlete Nguyen Tuan Dung excellently brought home a Gold Medal in the Combat Sambo 64 kg category and another Bronze Medal in the Sport Sambo category in the same weight category.

Athlete Le Duc Thien won a Silver Medal in the Sport Sambo 88 kg category; athlete Nguyen Kim Bao brought home a Silver Medal in the Combat Sambo 64 kg category.

Three athletes Nguyen Ba Luc, Nguyen Van Son and Phan Tuan Anh won Bronze Medals in the Combat Sambo category.

This achievement continues to affirm the position of Nghe An high-performance sports in the national martial arts movement, showing the effective spread of socialized models in training and coaching athletes.

Sambo is a modern martial art originating from Russia, combining the grappling and locking techniques of Judo and Jiu-jitsu with self-defense techniques from many other martial arts. It has two forms of competition: Sport Sambo, which focuses on grappling and throwing techniques, and Combat Sambo, which includes both stand-up and close-quarters combat.

Not only popular in Russia, Sambo is increasingly developing in many countries, including Vietnam. In particular, in recent years, Sambo has gradually affirmed its position in the national and international competition system, contributing to enriching the map of high-performance martial arts and sports in Vietnam.
