Youth Union members of border districts join in drug prevention

(Baonghean.vn) - On June 14, the District People's Committee coordinated with Que Phong District Youth Union to organize a rally and parade in response to the Month of Action against Drugs and the International Day against Drugs (June 26) in 2017.

This year's Action Month for Drug Prevention (from June 1 to 30) with the theme "Community joins hands to support drug addicts" aims to call on the whole society to pay more attention to drug addicts, eliminate discrimination, join hands to support drug addicts to quit and integrate into the community, arrange suitable jobs to help those who successfully quit drug addiction stabilize their lives; at the same time, promote propaganda, education, and raise awareness of functional sectors and the whole society, especially the young generation, about the dangers of drugs.

Que Phong is identified as a key and complicated area for drugs. According to statistics, there are currently 5 complicated locations, 5 key locations, 31 drug retail points, and 528 drug addicts in the area. Compared to the same period in 2016, there was a decrease of 31 retail points (31/62), 91 addicts (528/619).

To contribute to the successful implementation of the goals and action programs on drug prevention, at the ceremony, comrade Le Van Giap - Chairman of the District People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Crime Prevention, Social Evils and Building a Movement for the Whole People to Protect National Security of the District acknowledged the efforts of the district's youth in participating in drug prevention activities in recent times.

In addition, he also emphasized the need to further strengthen propaganda for the people, especially young people and teenagers who are at high risk; regularly integrate propaganda on drug prevention and control with cultural, artistic and sports activities for young people; departments, branches and functional forces need to pay attention to closely coordinating with the Youth Union, actively encouraging and mobilizing young people to participate in the movement to detect and denounce drug crimes and help young people with drug addiction in the process of drug rehabilitation and reintegration into the community...

After the ceremony, hundreds of cadres, civil servants, and youth union members of Que Phong district participated in a parade on main roads in the district to propagate and encourage people to respond to the Month of Action against Drugs and International Day against Drugs.
