Vietnam delegation holds flag-raising ceremony at Rio Olympics

On the morning of August 2, the Vietnamese sports delegation held a flag-raising ceremony at the Rio Olympics, preparing for the tournament that is about to open.

The flag-raising ceremony at a congress marks the presence of the Vietnamese sports delegation at that congress. At the Rio Olympics, the flag-raising ceremony of the Vietnamese sports delegation was held at 4 a.m. on August 2, with the participation of almost all members of the delegation, except for a few athletes who had training schedules.

At the flag-raising ceremony, Head of Delegation Tran Duc Phan also emphasized the delegation's determination at this Olympics, and affirmed that the Rio Olympics will be an Olympics of peace, friendship and friendliness. The representative of the host country Brazil also presented gifts to the Vietnamese Sports Delegation.

At this Olympics, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation was arranged by the Organizing Committee to stay in 9 apartments at the Athletes Village. In addition, the Organizing Committee also arranged 3 volunteers to support the Vietnamese Delegation throughout the Games.

Track and field athlete Nguyen Thanh Ngung, currently in Rio, said: “Our initial impression is that we are quite comfortable and satisfied with the accommodation and food arranged by the Organizing Committee. There is also no rampant robbery here as everyone had feared. I feel that this is a peaceful country and the people are friendly.”

“However, the weather and time zone issues may cause difficulties for Vietnamese athletes. The weather here is a bit windy and cold, while the time zone is quite different from Vietnam. Despite many difficulties, we will all compete with the highest determination for the country’s flag.” – Thanh Ngung shared.

The Rio Olympics opening ceremony will take place on August 5. At this Olympics, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation has 50 members competing in 10 sports./.
