Putin's rival invited to Trump event
Prominent Russian TV journalist Ksenia Sobchak, who announced she will run against President Vladimir Putin in March, has received an invitation to attend a prayer breakfast hosted by US President Donald Trump in Washington next week, according to Interfax news agency.

Interfax reported that 36-year-old Ksenia Sobchak was invited to attend the US President's annual Prayer Breakfast on February 1 in Washington DC. In addition to Sobchak, several Russian lawmakers were also invited to the event.
Ms Sobchak is planning to visit the US for three days, but has not yet confirmed whether she will attend the Prayer Breakfast due to her "heavy work schedule". During her visit to the US, she plans to attend many meetings and give many speeches here.
The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual event held on the first Thursday of February in Washington, DC. Each year, approximately 3,500 guests from over 100 countries attend the event. Guests include politicians, business leaders, and influential people in society. Every US president since President Eisenhower has attended this annual event.
Ksenia Sobchak, 35 years old, is a famous TV presenter, actress and model in Russia. She is known as the "Paris Hilton of Russia" with her attractive fashion style.
Sobchak is the daughter of the late St Petersburg Mayor Anatoly Sobchak, who recruited Mr Putin to work at the city hall in the 1990s. Mr Anatoly Sobchak is considered the mentor who helped President Putin start his political career.
A popular Russian TV presenter said she does not expect to defeat President Putin in the election next March, but she wants Russian voters to have another option.
