'Hungry for drugs', man rides motorbike to Tuong Duong to buy drugs for use

(Baonghean.vn) - 'Hungry' for drugs, Hanh rode her motorbike from Yen Thanh to Tuong Duong to buy drugs but was arrested by the police on the way back.

On November 30, Do Luong District People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial against Nguyen Xuan Hanh (born in 1968, residing in Tho Vinh hamlet, Yen Thanh district) for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics".

According to the indictment, at around 6:00 a.m. on July 8, Nguyen Xuan Hanh rode his motorbike along National Highway 7 to Tuong Duong district with the intention of buying drugs for use. At 11:30 a.m. the same day, when he reached Tuong Duong district, Hanh met an unknown man.

There, Hanh asked to buy 6 million VND worth of drugs. Ten minutes later, the man returned and gave Hanh a small package containing a white powder, heroin, weighing 15.074 grams.

After buying, Hanh put it in the trunk of the car to go home in Yen Thanh district. At around 4:00 p.m. on July 8, when she arrived at Yen Son commune, Do Luong district, Hanh was inspected by the Do Luong district police, discovered and caught red-handed, and the above drugs were confiscated.

At the trial, Hanh admitted to the crime as stated in the indictment. The panel of judges determined that the defendant's actions were very serious and affected public order and security in the area, posing a danger to society. The panel of judges sentenced Nguyen Xuan Hanh to 8 years in prison.
