Bank dollar cools down, gold price regains 37 million VND mark

The US dollar price in banks today dropped to 22,800 VND, but it is only 10-20 VND cheaper than in the free market.

After a sharp increase on February 15, the USD/VND exchange rate at commercial banks began to decrease, with the selling price mostly at 22,800 VND per USD. At Vietcombank, this bank is offering the highest buying price compared to other banks when listing the greenback at 22,730-22,800 VND. The remaining, at DongABank, VietinBank, ACB, the buying and selling prices are also around 22,720-22,800 VND. As for Techcombank, the dollar selling price here is still at 22,810 VND per USD.

Although the exchange rate has cooled down, the bank exchange rate is still not much different from the free market. In Ha Trung (Hanoi), major foreign exchange points here said they are buying US dollars at 22,800 VND and selling at 22,820 VND.

While the dollar cooled down, domestic gold prices this morning conquered the 37 million VND mark again. At the opening of the day, DOJI Jewelry Company quoted SJC gold bars at 36.88-37 million VND, up 60,000 VND for buying and 80,000 VND for selling. Similarly, at Phu Nhuan Jewelry Company (PNJ), each tael of SJC gold bars is currently priced at 36.78 - 37.06 million VND. The selling price also exceeded 37 million VND per tael.
