According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 p.m. on September 23, Vietnam time, was 3,787.69 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 62.5 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,448 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 120.7 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Currently, the domestic gold price is about 14.3 million VND/tael higher than the world gold price.
In the free market, some small gold shops have pushed the price of SJC gold bars to 135.1 - 137.1 million VND/tael in both buying and selling directions. Compared to large gold businesses, this price is about 2.5 million VND/tael higher.
World gold prices continued to rise due to expectations that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) will cut interest rates more. Investors are waiting for a speech by Fed Chairman Jerome Powell later in the day to look for clues on future monetary policy.
The main reason for the gold price increase is the internal signals of the Fed. A new member, Stephen Miran, has called for a sharp interest rate cut, saying that current interest rates are too high and could pose risks to the labor market. However, this view is not fully shared by other members, who remain cautious about inflation.
