Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong confided: “As a single mother, I used to live with my parents. When my parents passed away, my mother and I still lived in the small house built in the 80s of the last century. I never thought about building a house because my life depended on a few fields of rice.

Now that her daughter is entering university, she tried to borrow 20 million VND from the bank under the student support policy. Then the commune and the village encouraged her and supported her with 50 million VND; the village also held a meeting to support the labor and relatives supported 30 million VND to complete the new house.

After several months of school, Ms. Phuong's daughter returned home and was extremely happy to celebrate Tet in her new home: "This spring, my mother and I will celebrate Tet in a warm home. I will try to study well to find a job and ensure a better life."

Called “happy homes”, because building a new house to live in, or repairing an old house to make it more spacious is the wish of many poor families, with difficult housing circumstances in the province. When satisfying the needs and wishes that for many people are extremely difficult, even dare not think of, becomes reality, existing before their eyes, is extremely happy.

In Yen Thanh district, according to comrade Nguyen Cong Chuc - Head of the District Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the District Fatherland Front Committee: Implementing the housing construction program for the poor and households with housing difficulties launched by the province, Yen Thanh district has conducted a general review with a total of more than 500 households in need of housing. After the review, the district established a working group to conduct surveys, inspections, and appraisals and finalized a list of 394 households in need of housing support in the period of 2023 - 2025; of which, 302 households built new houses and 92 households needed to repair their houses.

With the high determination of the steering committee from the district to the grassroots and by all means mobilizing businesses and philanthropists inside and outside the district who have a good heart for Yen Thanh homeland, mobilizing children far from home, people in the community, relatives; although the goal of mobilizing to build houses is until 2025, up to this point, Yen Thanh district has mobilized enough resources to support the construction of houses for the poor with a total of 17.2 billion VND and in 2024, the construction of houses for the poor will be completed.

In Thanh Chuong district, in particular, in addition to connecting and mobilizing businesses, philanthropists, and fellow countrymen associations from all provinces and cities across the country; the locality focused on mobilizing wage earners to contribute 4-5 days' wages and households to contribute 200,000 VND/person to build houses for poor households and households in difficulty.

On the other hand, according to comrade Phan Dinh Ha - Head of the District Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the Thanh Chuong District Fatherland Front Committee: Depending on each family's circumstances; all levels will mobilize organizations, individuals, and communities to support money, raw materials, and labor days to contribute to the completion of the house, in order to reduce the family's difficulties and resources and increase the value of the newly built or repaired house.

More carefully, in addition to supporting housing construction, Thanh Chuong district directed communes, based on the specific circumstances of each family, to mobilize and support additional auxiliary works: toilets, yards, fences... and purchase household appliances. As a result, as of January 29, 2024, Thanh Chuong district mobilized nearly 20.5 billion VND; supported the construction of 260 new houses, repaired 44 houses and strived to complete the support for building houses for the poor by 2024, with 177 new houses and 69 repaired houses.

In Ky Son district, the district has the most makeshift, dilapidated houses in need of renovation and repair in the province in the period of 2023-2025. In 2023, with the support of the Public Security sector, organizations, philanthropists, and the efforts of the local political system at all levels, Ky Son district completed and handed over nearly 1,900 houses to households.

Comrade Ly Ba Thai - Standing Deputy Secretary of Ky Son District Party Committee said: Ky Son District currently has no households living in thatched houses like before. To achieve this result, in addition to the financial contribution and direct construction of prefabricated houses for people by the police force; Party committees, authorities and the entire political system from the district to the grassroots, villages, and hamlets, together with the people, joined in, creating a "campaign" to contribute funds, working days to level the ground, make foundations, and bring in construction materials...

Strive to finish 1 year ahead of schedule

From the correct policy of the Provincial Party Committee through the issuance of Directive No. 21, dated February 10, 2023 on strengthening the Party's leadership in the work of mobilizing and supporting the construction and repair of houses for the poor and people with difficult housing circumstances, in the period of 2023-2025; the entire political system in the province has joined in, each locality has a creative way of doing things, each provincial agency has mobilized contributions from cadres, workers and connected with benefactors to build houses for the poor, creating a strong spread in society.

As a result, more than 618.5 billion VND, equivalent to 12,196 houses, were registered for support by organizations and individuals; of which, 7,517 poor households were able to move into new houses named "Dai Doan Ket" (equal to the data of the previous 7 years 2016-2022).

To continue completing more than 8,200 houses in the coming time, comrade Le Van Ngoc - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee emphasized: All levels need to focus on reviewing and encouraging organizations and sponsors who have registered to complete the support for building houses for the poor; at the same time, conduct inspections and urge the roles and responsibilities of the steering committee, agencies, departments and branches at all levels, promptly remove difficulties and obstacles.

All levels also need to continue to promote propaganda, mobilize human and material resources to support the poor in building and repairing houses; because not all 50 million VND in support can complete a new house, but in reality there are completed houses costing up to more than 200 million VND and on average, to complete a house ranges from 80 million VND to 150 million VND.

“The Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, as the standing agency, will also advise the Provincial Steering Committee for Housing Support to hold a conference to review after 1 year of implementing the housing program for the poor, thereby reviewing and adjusting the implementation plan of the province and all localities, proposing specific solutions, striving to complete the construction of houses for the poor 1 year ahead of schedule for the entire period of 2023 - 2025”, said the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee.
