Can Tho city delegation awarded Nghe An province 1 billion VND to build houses for the poor.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of December 16, a delegation from Can Tho city met and discussed with leaders of Nghe An province and presented 1 billion VND in support to build houses for the poor.

This is an activity within the program of returning to the source of cadres, party members and typical examples of Can Tho city on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of this locality becoming a centrally-run city (2004 - 2024).
The Can Tho city delegation was led by comrade Nguyen Trung Nhan - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho city.
Welcoming the delegation of Can Tho city, on the side of Nghe An province, there was comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee: Nguyen Nam Dinh - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Hong Vinh - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ho Le Ngoc - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province.

Speaking at the welcoming ceremony for the delegation of Can Tho city, on behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee sincerely thanked the sentiments and noble gestures of the leaders, former leaders and people of Can Tho city towards Nghe An province.
The Standing Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee shared that recently, the Party committees and authorities at all levels in the province have resolutely implemented many solutions to care for the poor and social security work.
However, Nghe An is the province with the largest area in the country, with nearly 16,500 km2; There are 21 district-level administrative units, including 11 mountainous and highland districts, with complex geographical terrain, low starting point, difficult socio-economic infrastructure and some special situations; leading to a large number of households with poor economic conditions and disadvantages in life; especially a large number of households without secure housing, with more than 15,000 households.

To solve housing difficulties and ensure social security for the people, in early 2023, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee issued a policy calling on and mobilizing all levels, sectors, agencies, organizations and people in the province to support the poor and provide housing support for the poor and households with housing difficulties. To date, the whole province has built, supported new construction and repaired 6,459 houses.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thong also said that in recent times, in addition to contributions from agencies, units, organizations and people of all walks of life in the province, Nghe An has also received support and appreciation from many organizations, units, localities and people across the country.
The fact that Can Tho city has given Nghe An province 1 billion VND in support is a noble gesture to share with Nghe An's policy in social security work and to share difficulties with the people. This will be an important source of support to motivate those who receive support to strive to build a prosperous life.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee also hopes that the solidarity, cooperation and sharing between the Party Committee, government and people of Can Tho city and Nghe An province will become increasingly deeper and stronger.

The Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City also informed about some outstanding results of the city after 20 years of becoming a centrally-run city. In particular, emphasizing the scale of the economy, annually contributing about 1.2% of the country's GDP and about 9.5% of the GRDP of the Mekong Delta region. The estimated gross domestic product per capita (GRDP) in 2023 is 94.12 million VND, 9.1 times higher than in 2004.
