Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang offers incense to commemorate the late revolutionary leader Phan Dang Luu.

On the morning of April 25, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of comrade Phan Dang Luu (May 5, 1902 - May 5, 2022), comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang - Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Council of Theory visited and offered flowers and incense to commemorate comrade Phan Dang Luu at the Memorial House in Hoa Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province.

Also attending were comrades: Bui Truong Giang - Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Council of Theory; Le Van Loi - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; Nguyen The Ky - former member of the Party Central Committee, former General Director of the Voice of Vietnam, Chairman of the Central Council of Theory and Criticism of Literature and Arts, and comrades in the delegation.

Also attending from Nghe An province were comrades: Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with comrades in the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, a number of departments, branches and leaders of Yen Thanh district.

Comrade Phan Dang Luu was born on May 5, 1902 in a Confucian family with a tradition of patriotism in Dong village, Trang Thanh commune (now Hoa Thanh commune), Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province - a land rich in cultural and revolutionary traditions.

Born into a country in ruins, influenced by family education and the tradition of patriotism for his revolutionary homeland, comrade Phan Dang Luu soon cherished the ambition of helping the people and the country. As a patriotic youth, he soon became aware of the path of fighting for national liberation and actively worked for the birth of the Communist Party in Vietnam.

Comrade Phan Dang Luu was a talented leader, contributing to the correct direction of revolutionary tasks through each historical period, wisely delaying the Southern uprising, and making great contributions to the re-establishment of the Central Executive Committee.

During his career, he was also a pioneer on the revolutionary press and literature front; a shining example of revolutionary ethics.

On November 22, 1940, when he had just arrived in Saigon, before he could convey the Central Committee's opinion on postponing the Southern uprising, he was arrested by French secret police and on March 3, 1941, he was sentenced to death by the French colonial government's military court. On August 26, 1941, he was executed by French colonialists at the Nga Ba Giong shooting range, Ba Diem, Hoc Mon, Gia Dinh province.

With 39 years of age, 16 years of continuous revolutionary activities, including more than 7 years of imprisonment in imperialist prisons, comrade Phan Dang Luu devoted and sacrificed his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, becoming a typical senior leader of the Party and the Vietnamese revolution.

In a sacred and respectful atmosphere, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang and the delegation respectfully offered flowers and incense to commemorate and deeply express gratitude for the great contributions of comrade Phan Dang Luu.

The delegates vowed to follow the example of comrade Phan Dang Luu and other exemplary senior leaders of the Party, promote patriotism, strive to study, work, and fight, leading the country to overcome all difficulties and challenges, successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, and contribute to soon realizing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.

Commemorating the 120th anniversary of the birth of comrade Phan Dang Luu (May 5, 1902 - May 5, 2022), on the afternoon of April 25, in Vinh City, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Central Propaganda Department and Nghe An Provincial Party Committee will jointly organize a scientific seminar: "Comrade Phan Dang Luu with the Vietnamese revolution and his homeland Nghe An".
