Raid on cockfighting arena, 36 gamblers were engrossed in gambling

A “huge” cockfighting arena was just destroyed by the Criminal Police Department (PC45) of Soc Trang Police on the evening of January 26. The seized evidence was worth over 800 million VND.

On January 27, Colonel Doan Xuan Truong, Head of PC45 of Soc Trang Provincial Police, said that the unit had just coordinated with My Xuyen District Police to destroy a large-scale cockfighting ring in Du Tho Hamlet, Tham Don Commune, My Xuyen District.

Accordingly, at 5:00 p.m. on January 26, detectives from PC45 Department and My Xuyen District Police raided a thatched house in Du Tho Hamlet, Tham Don Commune, My Xuyen District, catching 36 subjects red-handed organizing gambling in the form of cockfighting for money.

At the scene, the police temporarily seized over 800 million VND in cash; 10 fighting cocks; 10 motorbikes; 1 car, and many related exhibits. The owner of the cockfighting arena was identified as To Tan Toi (34 years old, residing in Tham Don commune, My Xuyen district, Soc Trang).

At the police station, Toi initially confessed that the cockfighting arena had been open for nearly a month and took a 10% commission for each bet. They played dozens of bets every day. This cockfighting arena attracted gamblers from districts, cities, and towns in Soc Trang province to gamble.
