Police in Jeolla Province, southwestern South Korea, today arrested a 19-year-old Vietnamese student on suspicion of murder, the Korea Herald reported.
South Korean police said the suspect allegedly stabbed to death a Vietnamese former roommate in an apartment in Iksan City, Jeolla Province on the evening of October 20. The identities of the suspect and victim have not been released.
The two sides are said to have had a feud because the victim reported to the school that the 19-year-old male student was working illegally, violating visa regulations for international students.
The suspect had previously moved away, but the two parties met again to resolve a dispute over payment of some expenses while living together.
The suspect told police he was angry because his roommate had reported him to the school. Investigators believe he may have accidentally stabbed his roommate in a fit of rage.
