Young tourist raped for getting into the wrong taxi

After drinking alcohol, a 17-year-old tourist got into the wrong taxi and was taken to a vacant lot by the driver and raped.

The tourist, from Blackburn, England, was traveling in the Playa de las Americas resort, south of Tenerife, Spain. After leaving the Las Veronicas shopping center at around 2:30 a.m. on August 3, she got into a black Opel Astra, mistaking it for a taxi to go home. But the driver drove straight to a vacant lot and raped her, according to The Sun.

The young woman was saved when a kind person heard her screams and called the police. The man was arrested shortly after. The identities of both men have not been released.

Police said the girl had been drinking while having fun at the shopping mall and then got into the wrong car. The driver was also drunk at the time.

Also at this tourist area, a 13-year-old Irish tourist was raped by a white man after leaving the shopping center.
