According to the German politician, Berlin suffered up to 40% of the losses among EU countries due to restrictive measures against Moscow. He stressed that sanctions and the deterioration of trade relations with Russia are contrary to Germany's national interests.

"Compared to other members of the European Union, our country suffers more losses due to these restrictions. We lose 618 million euros per month due to restrictions. And what is the benefit of such losses? To change the status of the Crimean peninsula, which will never happen!", - said Mr. Fronmeier.

The European Union imposed economic sanctions against Russia in the summer of 2014 in connection with the conflict in Ukraine. The EU later extended the sanctions. In June, the EU Council decided to extend the sanctions until June 23, 2019.
