Hue Festival 2016 takes place on the occasion of April 30 with many unique features

On the morning of December 17, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province held an international press conference to introduce activities of the 8th Hue Festival 2016.

Hue Festival 2016 with the theme "710 years of Thuan Hoa-Phu Xuan-Thua Thien-Hue; Cultural heritage with integration and development" will take place for 6 days, from April 29 to May 4, which falls right on the April 30 - May 1 holiday.

Mr. Che Cong Chung, Director of Hue Festival Center, Deputy Head of Hue Festival 2016 Organizing Committee, said that next year's Festival will be organized on a national and international scale, associated with the historical and cultural events of Thua Thien-Hue, which are the 710th anniversary of Thuan Hoa-Phu Xuan-Thua Thien-Hue; 380th anniversary of Hue City; at the same time, combining cultural, tourism, artistic and festival activities with community, new and attractive features, continuing to affirm the Hue Festival brand that has been built through recent Festivals.

In particular, during the Festival, the conference of mayors of East Asian and Latin American cities will also be held in Hue. At this conference, Hue will be recognized as a cultural city…

Mr. Che Cong Chung also said that Hue Festival is the first contemporary festival in Vietnam, learning from the Festival model of famous cities in the world, applying it to the conditions and characteristics of Hue and Vietnam as a model for organization.

The success of the Festivals contributed to Hue's determination to build the first Festival city in Vietnam.

The Hue Festival brand has spread and affirmed itself in the hearts of domestic and international friends. In 2000, the Festival had only 15 domestic troupes and artist groups, 7 international art troupes, but in 2016, there will be the participation of 53 theaters, art troupes, and art groups from all typical cultural regions of Vietnam; over 60 typical art troupes from 47 countries in all 5 continents converging in Hue.

Hue Festival 2016 continues to recreate many unique royal activities in the magical space of the Royal Night, programs introducing the quintessence of folk art, Hue Royal art, Buddhist music and dance, and vibrant street festivals with the participation of domestic and foreign artists.

In addition, rich and diverse community cultural activities take place continuously for 6 days and nights, including exhibitions, displays, Hue kite flying art, calligraphy, installation art activities, street music and fine arts, scientific seminars, international trade fairs; sports activities, cuisine, tours, tourist routes...

Hue Festival 2016 is a place of convergence and exchange of typical art programs, bearing the mark of different cultures in the world, the quintessence of Vietnamese cultural and artistic heritage, especially Hue culture.
