FIFA lost the right to organize the Golden Ball award
France Football magazine has just announced that it will stop cooperating with FIFA in organizing the voting and awarding of the annual FIFA Golden Ball award.
In an announcement on September 19, France Football confirmed that it would restore the right to organize the Ballon d'Or award separately as before. This award was organized by the magazine from 1956 to 2009, before cooperating with FIFA.
France Football also announced several important changes to the 2016 Ballon d'Or. Accordingly, the Organizing Committee will release a list of 30 players and there will be no three-player shortlist. The winner will be announced before the end of the calendar year (unlikeGolden BallFIFA is usually announced in early January of the following year). The voting jury will be made up of international journalists only, not captains and coaches of national teams.
