FMV-B1 - Vietnamese weapons tear apart enemy obstacles

The FMV-B1 weapon is a product of the Missile Institute under the Military Science and Technology Institute. The operating principle of the FMV-B1 weapon is to use a solid-fuel rocket engine to continuously pull a long soft-explosive chain. The rocket delivers the chain to a multi-layer fence or minefield and is detonated by a mechanical fuse that holds the pyrotechnic delay.

The topic has met the expectations of many commanders as well as research agencies, combat command and training of the army in protecting the lives of soldiers in combat.

The structure of the FMV-B1 weapon includes a launcher with a simple sliding structure, ensuring that the missile leaves the base when fired according to the specified conditions. The traction engine is a solid fuel engine that performs the function of carrying the useful load, the explosive chain, to the target. On top of the engine is installed an electric ignition system that is responsible for igniting the engine.

The steel cable serves to connect the traction motor to the detonating chain. The cable is of sufficient length so that the detonating chain is not affected by the engine's jet stream when the engine is running. The detonator is installed at the end of the detonating chain. The detonator has a pyrotechnic retarder.

The anchor detonation string is a soft detonation string section fixed on the main wire and can be separated into 11 modules for convenient carrying. The soft anchoring system is based on combining aerodynamic drag braking with a flexible wire anchoring with high elasticity.

Colonel, Associate Professor, Doctor Trinh Hong Anh - Head of the FMV-B1 weapon project said that the technical and tactical features of this system have been greatly increased, most importantly the distance has been increased by 30 m and the opening width has been increased by 2 - 3 m, ensuring that soldiers can attack.

Most importantly, these explosive blocks are guaranteed to have explosive transmission and a durable structure thanks to the pulling force of the motor of the shaft wire pulling motor.

Based on the technical and tactical features of the FMV-B1, it can be seen that the operating principle of this weapon system is quite similar to the UR-67 weapon produced by Russia. Each UR-67 launcher system carries two 93 m ammunition belts, each belt containing more than 700 kg of plastic explosives or TNT.
