Nearly 292,000 candidates give up the opportunity to apply for university admission

The Ministry of Education and Training said that by the end of the first round of university admission registration in 2023 at the end of July 30, the total number of candidates who had registered for admission was more than 660,000 (equivalent to 66% of the number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam).

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, of the more than 1 million candidates taking the high school graduation exam in 2023, the number of candidates taking the exam for both graduation and admission is 917,731 (accounting for 89.52%). The number of candidates taking the exam only for admission is 34,203 (accounting for 3.34%). Thus, the total number of candidates registering for admission in 2023 before the high school graduation exam is about 951,900.

This means that nearly 292,000 candidates will miss the opportunity to take the first round of university admission in 2023.

However, according to the Ministry of Education and Training, the rate of admission applications this year is still higher than last year (in 2022, this rate was 64.07% with 325,716 students not entering their applications into the system).

The system also recorded that the total number of wishes registered for the first round of university admission in 2023 was more than 3.4 million. Thus, on average, 1 candidate registered about 5 wishes for admission.

Note on online payment

ThoseCandidateThose who have entered their university admission wishes into the Ministry of Education and Training's system should note that they must pay the admission registration fee online from July 31 to 5:00 p.m. on August 6.

Specifically, the Ministry of Education and Training divides the schedule for candidates to make online payments on the Admission Registration Support System according to the provinces/cities (where candidates have submitted their applications) as follows:

- From 0:00 on July 31 to 17:00 on August 1: Hanoi, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Son La, Yen Bai.

- From 0:00 on August 1 to 17:00 on August 2: Hoa Binh, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Hai Phong.

- From 0:00 on August 2 to 17:00 on August 3: Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An.

- From 0:00 on August 3 to 17:00 on August 4: Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Kon Tum.

- From 0:00 on August 4 to 17:00 on August 5: Ho Chi Minh City, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh.
